Dispatching a driver into a violation is the carrier's violation (49 CFR 390.6 forbids coercing a driver to break the hours rules). The HOS page exists so the plan fits the clock before the sheet goes out.
- Each row shows drive time left today, time left in the 14-hour window and the 60/70-hour cycle position.
- Waiting at a shipper consumes the 14-hour window exactly like driving; include expected dwell in the plan.
- Short-haul drivers (150 air-miles, back within 14 hours) still carry the 11-hour driving limit.
