Flatbed OTR CDL-A Driver Job Description Position: OTR Flatbed CDL-A Driver Employment Type: Full-Time Employee Classification: W-2 Company Driver Schedule: Over-the-Road Location: Nationwide / Terminal-based dispatch About the Role We are hiring a professional OTR Flatbed CDL-A Driver to haul flatbed freight across regional and national lanes. This is a company driver employee position, not an independent contractor role. The driver will be responsible for safely operating a Class A commercial vehicle, securing flatbed freight properly, protecting cargo from damage, meeting delivery schedules, and following all DOT, FMCSA, customer, and company safety requirements. This role is best suited for a dependable driver who understands load securement, takes pride in safe equipment operation, and communicates clearly with dispatch throughout each trip. Responsibilities Operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle safely across assigned OTR flatbed routes. Pick up and deliver flatbed freight according to dispatch instructions, appointment times, and customer requirements. Properly secure freight using chains, binders, straps, tarps, edge protection, dunnage, and other securement equipment as required. Inspect cargo securement before departure and during required en-route checks. Tarp, untarp, strap, chain, and protect freight as needed. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment defects immediately. Maintain accurate ELD logs in compliance with FMCSA Hours of Service regulations. Submit bills of lading, proof of delivery, scale tickets, fuel receipts, lumper receipts, and other paperwork promptly. Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, detention, breakdowns, weather, route changes, loading issues, and delivery updates. Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and customer site requirements. Keep truck and flatbed equipment clean, organized, and ready for service. Represent the company professionally at shippers, receivers, inspection stations, fuel stops, and customer locations.
